Muriel A. Dando

BINGHAMTON - Muriel Dando of Binghamton NY passed away on December 14th of 2022 at Lourdes Hospital. A native of Skaneateles New York, she was born December 1st, 1926. Miss Dando attended a one room schoolhouse, and Skaneateles school district before getting her teaching degree at the State University of New York at Albany. She was very loved and admired as a schoolteacher and colleague in the Binghamton school district. Before retiring she served in administration. Miss Dando was predeceased by her mother and father Raymond and Alice Dando, and her three siblings, Richard Dando, Helen D Wilmot, And Kathryn Murphy. She was also predeceased by her niece Sara Hoskins and Joseph Murphy. She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews; John (Karen), Kurt (Linda), Kristen, Elizabeth, Drew (Karen) Wilmot. Followed by Gregory, James (Anitra), and Kate (Joe) Murphy. Also, Sue Ellen & Mark Dando. Muriel loved her 10 nieces and nephews, 36 great nieces and nephews, and 5 great-great nieces and nephews. Along with several very special friends. Muriel was a talented seamstress, quilter, and designer. Muriel was an avid bowler and competitor. She served on the New York State Board of Regents of mathematics for algebra, calculus, geometry, and trigonometry. Muriel attended Christ Church when she began teaching in Binghamton after college. She sang in the choir for many years and volunteered at the food pantry. She was an active church member. Muriel loved to travel visiting people in the USA and abroad. She was always helping others and contributing to charities. Her cats, (many over the years), were her personal joy. Since Muriel had no children of her own, she was continually active in the lives of her many nieces and nephews. She had several friends! This extraordinary woman will be missed by all! Funeral will be at Christ Episcopal Church in Binghamton NY on Saturday January 7th,2023 at 1pm. There will be no calling hours. There will be a service at the Episcopal Church of Saints Peter and John located on Genesee St. In Auburn NY on, January, 14th, 2023 at 1:30 pm. There will be a vocal performance by Joshua and Caitlan Wilmot. Arrangements were made by J.F. Rice Funeral Home in Johnson City, NY. A burial will be at the discretion of the family, at Christ Church.
