JOHNSON CITY - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peg Pichura on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 80. She was predeceased by her parents Dario and Margaret Schiappa and in-laws Joseph and Josephine Pichura Peg was born in Mount Vernon, NY and moved to Johnson City as a young child where she lived there her entire life. This is where she met and married her high school sweetheart John. They were together for 65 years and married for 60 of those years. They lovingly raised three children. She is survived by her husband John, son John Jr. (Karen), daughters Chris (Chuck) Kozlowski and Janet (Eric) Chambers. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren; Shawn (Jill), Sammie (Zach), Joey, and Jonah. She is also survived by her sister Diane (Bill) Donahue, brother Rick (Becki) Schiappa, sisters-in-law Leona (Bill) Tomancik, sister-in-law Rita (Gene) Hartman. She was adored by many nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues, and her special longtime friends from High School (Fran, Maru Ann, Pat, Michalyn, Barb, Hazel, Caroline). She worked 26 years at Johnson City High school in various administrative roles with the last as Librarian. She had a passion for reading books. Loved cooking and sharing meals together with her family. She had fond memories of many Vacation travels with family and friends to a variety of places; NJ beaches, NYC, 1000 Islands, Florida, Hawaii, North Carolina, California, and Italy. No one will ever forget her passion for anything with Pink Flamingos. She was often spotted throughout Johnson City during one of her many runs and walks over the years. Peg’s family extends gratitude and thanks to the many aides, nurses, staff of Ascension Lourdes Hospital, special care giver, Sue D’Arpino O’Neil, for their loving care. Due to COVID restrictions a Funeral Mass for immediate family will be held on Thursday, January 9 at 9:30 AM at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 147 Main Street, Johnson City, NY. The Mass will be live streamed on www. stjamesjc.org. Please press live stream. Burial will take place at Calvary. In lieu of flowers consider making donations to the ALS Association or Mercy House. Arrangements are by the JF Rice Funeral Home, Inc. 150 Main St., Johnson City, NY.
