Lila S. Casey

BINGHAMTON - Lila S. Casey, 98, of Binghamton, NY passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2022. She was a spunky, hard-working, faithful woman known as Mom, Grandma, GiGi, and Aunt Lila. Born in Scranton, PA., the youngest of ten children to Harry and Leah Smith, she put herself through nursing school and was proud to be an RN. She worked in the Binghamton area where she loved taking care of newborns in the hospital nursery. She was predeceased by her parents, and her husband of 62 years, William H. Casey, two sisters Leah and Lois, and seven brothers. She is survived by her children Suzanne (Paul) Tierno, William (Christine) Casey, Helen (Alan) Whiting; grandchildren Christine (Bill -deceased) Martellaro, Paul (Claudine) Tierno, Amy (Jeff) Leivonen, Alicia Casey, Brian Casey, Nick (Sarah) Whiting, Kari (Tyler) Bush, and nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at The Church of Saints John and Andrew, 1263 Vestal Ave., Binghamton NY, at 11:00 a.m. The family will recieve friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. Until the time of mass.
