Jean Chalker Obituary

Jean Chalker, 85, passed away on January 28, 2022 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley Sr. and Harriett ViVirski. Also one brother, Stanley Jr. ViVirski, sister, Joan Jones and two sons, Richard and Mark Chalker. She is survived by her sister, Suzanne Sunderlin, loving daughter, Cinde (Michael) Everling, Grandchildren, Douglas (Heidi) Everling, Angela (Joseph) Reiser, Steven Chalker and Anthony Chalker. Also, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She grew up in Johnson City, with an extended family. She was a longtime member of American Legion Post #1645, VFW and Eagles Club. She had a love of her family, outdoors (flowers, camping) and going to casinos. She also loved her scratch-off tickets and anything with Angels. She has definitely earned her wings. She also adored her two fur-babies, Misty & Sassy. In her early years she worked at Harper and Row where she made many friends and then retired from Gould Publishing. She had so many friends and family that she was close to and in the end they also checked on her and how she was doing. Thank you all! A special Thank You to nieces, Valerie and Rhonda and Brother-in-law, James Jones for their loving help and support at the end of her life. She will be loved and missed by all. A memorial service will be held at a later date for all to attend. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to American Legion Post #1645 or the Broome County Humane Society.
