Francis E. Charlier, 75, of Johnson City, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 13, 2023. He was born on April 23, 1947 in Binghamton, NY. He was predeceased by his daughter Margot, his parents Francis and Anna (Layton) Charlier, Father and Mother in Law Albert and Angeline (Matalka) Ritter, his Brother in Law Frank George and Nephew Scott. Fran is survived by his loving wife Mary (Ritter) of 48 years, daughters Lauren (George) Papastratis, Leah (Steve) Mooney and Elise (Tanner) Moss. His seven grandchildren, Sophia, Madison, Katerina, Noah, Maria, Tanner Jr. and Mila. As well as his brother Robert (Pat) Charlier and sisters, Carol George, Linda (William) Pratt and Mary (Richard) Ramey. His loving in-laws Michael Ritter, Cathy (Jim) Hrncirick, Bertie (Michael) Casey and John (Kathy) Ritter. Not to mention the many beloved nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Fran graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1965 and served in the United States Army shortly thereafter. After his time in Germany, he returned to Binghamton where he met Mary “Murphy”, raised his family and retired from Parlor City Paper Box after 49 years. He was a regular Sunday golfer at Chenango Valley State Park with his favorite foursomes and he was lucky enough to earn two hole-in-ones. Fran enjoyed poker games with the boys, bowling, warm Genny and Yankee games in his garage while grilling Sunday Dinners. A memorial service will be held Monday, February 20, 2023 at J.F. Rice Funeral Home (150 Main Street, Johnson City, NY 13790) at 11am with Deacon Bill Fitzpatrick of St. James Church. Visitation will take place Monday prior to the service beginning at 9am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Fran was happiest when those around him were well fed and taken care of.
