Mary White Obituary

Mary Nagy White of Kirkwood and co-owner of The Maples Farm passed away at Willow Point Nursing Home on August 7, 2018 at age 99 years and 3 months after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.  She was born in Soda Springs, Idaho and was predeceased her husband: Albert White, her parents: Joseph and Lois (Sorensen) Nagy, her siblings and their spouses: Frank (Rita) Nagy, Julius (Isabel) Nagy, Daniel (Thelma) Nagy, Jean (George Bauman) (Thomas) Allen, Joseph (Mary) Nagy, (Leonard) Stetson, John (Barbara) Nagy, and Rebecca (William) Porter, several nieces and nephews, and several beloved horses.  She is survived by her children: Mary Reynolds, Port Dickinson, NY, Albert White, Kirkwood, NY, daughter-in-law Linda DiNardo, Binghamton, NY,  grandchildren: Eric Rifenbury and Sandra Ballas, Hillcrest, NY, Andrew Reynolds, New Palz, NY, John (Christie)Reynolds, Fuquay Varina, NC, Lisa (Christian) Reynolds Brundieck, Chenango Bridge, NY, Albert White, Charlotte, NC, Jared (Sandra) White, Johnston, Rhode Island, James Canniff, Binghamton, NY, great grandchildren: Michael Rifenbury, Julia and Connor Reynolds and Brendan White, her sister: Jenaveave Stetson, Atwater, CA, and several nieces and nephews.  Mary was raised in Watrous Corners, small farming community outside Montrose, PA.  In addition to running The Maples Farm, she worked at: Fowler’s Department Store Luncheonette, the Hillcrest Community Bakery, the Binghamton Psychiatric Center in food service and as an election inspector for The Town of Kirkwood.  She was a member of The Kirkwood Historical Society and helped restore the old schoolhouse.  She was an excellent gardener, cleaned her own chimney, rotated her own tires, etc.  A special thank you for the excellent care given to Mary by Hospice (twice) and Broome County Family Care providers, Ginger Daire, and especially, Mickey Larkin.  In lieu of flowers, please kindly consider a donation to Animal Care Council, PO Box 269, Endicott, NY 13761.  Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  In fact, several of her ancestors traveled to  Utah by wagon train during the Mormon migration.  Her funeral service will be held at the church, 305 Murray Hill Road, Vestal, NY on Friday, August 31 at 12:00 P.M.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
