John E. Hand

John E. Hand, 79, of Johnson City passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018, surrounded by his family.  He was predeceased by his parents, Jerome and Claire Hand; parents-in-law, Edward and Dorothy Scott; stepson, Michael Rose, brother, Jerry Hand and brother-in-law, Roger Scott.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ida; three children, Daniel Hand, Lynn (Mark) Cartledge and Edward (Lisa) Hand; seven grandchildren, Dawn, Ann, Kelsey, Ryan, Antonia, Jake and Dylan; four great grandchildren; three siblings, Phil (Helen) Hand, Mart (Betty) Hand and Mary Claire (Jim) Barnes; dog, Blarney; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  John served in the United States Army.  He worked for GE for over 50 years and retired from BAE.  John loved sports.  He was a NY Yankee and NY Giants fan and he enjoyed watching fellow left handed golfer Phil Mickelson.  A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday at 9:30AM at St. James Church 131 Main Street, Johnson City. Friends may call at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc. 150 Main Street Johnson City, Thursday from 4-7PM with the Rosary to be said at 6:30PM.  Donations in John’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.jfricefuneralhome.com.
