Harold A. Stegemann

February 11, 1922 ~ October 28, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Harold A. Stegemann, 95, passed away peacefully on October, 28, 2017 at Francis House in Syracuse.  Harold was born in Ridgewood, Queens, NY on February 11, 1922.  He was a graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School. Harold served in the Army in World War II from May 1, 1944 through May 8, 1946 in the 1285th Combat Engineers Battalion and was honorably discharged.   After the war, Harold started his career with Sperry Rand Corporation in Great Neck, NY as a machinist and was promoted to industrial engineer, manager of engineering and retired from Singer Link Simulation and Trainers in Kirkwood, NY as Manager of Final Assembly and Transportation.  In that position, he was responsible for installation of the Singer Link flight simulators trainers all over the World.  He loved to travel for both business and pleasure.  Harold volunteered much of his time to organizations such as the St. James NY Fire Department, Knights of Columbus in Binghamton NY and gave time to his community in Conklin NY where he lived for over 38 years as well as his church and other charitable organizations.  He was very involved with his family friends and was always willing to offer a hand.  He lived a life of service to others.  Harold is predeceased by his loving wife Alice Stegemann, 2nd wife Pat Stegemann, brother Robert Stegemann and his wife Barbara Stegemann, his brother-in-law Carl Nolte, brother-in-law Albert Kooistra and daughter-in-law Susan Stegemann wife of Albert Stegemann.  Harold is survived by son, Albert Stegemann and partner Patricia Chamberlin, daughter Alice Eccleston and son-in-law Ken Eccleston, daughter Joan Riley and son-in-law Mark Riley, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, his sister Eleanor Nolte and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s Church of Kirkwood, 975 NY Rt. 11, Kirkwood, Tuesday at 10am with burial in Vestal Hills Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the church from 9am until the time of service.  The family would like to thank the caregivers at Francis House in Syracuse, NY for their care and compassion.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Harold Stegemann to Francis House 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, NY 13208 or to Hospice.  Online condolences can be left for the family at www.jfricefuneralhome.com.
