Conchita A. (Herrera) Oblasney

Conchita Oblasney was welcomed to heaven peacefully on April 4, 2018 surrounded by her family.  Conchita was born on 6/5/28 in Tampa, FL.  She grew up in Key West and attended St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic School.  She graduated from cosmetology school and worked as a hairdresser.  She met Frank, the love of her life, while he was stationed at the Naval Base in Key West.  They were married and made their home in Vestal.  She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Frank and her daughters Patricia Nezelek, Catherine Oblasney, Anita Donachie and sons in law Jim Nezelek and Bernie Donachie.  She took great delight in her grandchildren Megan Chandler (Tripp) and Lisa Donachie and her great grandchildren Henry and Caroline Chandler.  She is also survived by sister in law Mary Herron and three nephews. Conchita was a loving wife and mother and a respected friend.  She was full of kindness, vitality, and joy.  She was always busy cooking, baking, and sewing. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, puzzles and volunteer work.  The family wishes to thank the staff of Lourdes 3 West for their care during her hospitalization and the staff of Elizabeth Church Manor 3rd floor for their care and compassion.  There won't be a day that goes by that her absence will not be deeply felt by each of us lucky enough to belong to her.  We will treasure her in our hearts forever.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry at St. Vincent Blessed Sacrament Church or the charity of your choice.  Family will receive friends at J.F. Rice Funeral Home on Sunday 4/8 from 2-4pm.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday 4/9 at 10:00 at St. Vincent Blessed Sacrament Church followed by burial at Vestal Hill Memorial Park.
